Wildcats, Rangers fans gather for ACU Night at the Ballpark

Nearly 900 Abilene Christian University and Texas Rangers fans turned out last night for the annual Arlington version of ACU Night at the Ballpark. The home team rallied big in the ninth inning but fell short, 12-11, against the visiting Baltimore Orioles.

Men’s basketball coach Joe Golding (’99) threw the game’s ceremonial first pitch (see video), continuing an ACU tradition that has included president Dr. Phil Schubert (’91), former U.S. Olympian and gold medalist Earl Young (’62), former MLB pitcher Bill Gilbreth (’69), and women’s basketball head coach Julie Goodenough.

Wildcat and Astros fans get their turn on June 12 during ACU Night at the Ballpark in Houston. Tickets include a $15 food credit and a limited-edition Astros-ACU ball cap. Purchase tickets today, as sales end this Friday, June 7.  Learn more and register here.

Then on July 29, ACU Night at the Ballpark reprises in Denver, where Wildcats will gather to watch the Colorado Rockies host the Los Angeles Dodgers. Discounted tickets in the club level are $40 and include a $15 concession credit and access to a pregame meet and greet with alumni and friends, and the first 140 people who purchase tickets will receive a free ACU cap as well. Learn more and register here.
