The opening of Wildcat Stadium kicks off a new era for ACU, and Ty “Rowdy” Riggins is all in.

The sophomore from Abilene is getting hands-on experience for his advertising/public relations major by serving as a student Gameday director and helping plan ACU’s inaugural football season in the new Anthony Field at Wildcat Stadium. He’s ready to leave his mark on ACU’s culture as Wildcat football comes home for the first time in more than 50 years.

“There’s a whole new tailgating experience that ACU is offering this year, so we’re helping to lay the ground for that,” he said. “I’m excited to be a part of helping start new ACU traditions that hopefully people enjoy for years to come.”

The challenge of introducing Gameday culture to the ACU community, especially students, is one he thinks he can handle. He grew up immersed in ACU culture – his mother is an alumna, he participated in ACU Leadership Camps throughout his childhood, and he often attended ACU baseball games with his dad. Now, he’s taking what he knows and dreaming big, working with his peers to help manage Wildcat Country Tailgating and create a welcoming atmosphere for fans of all ages.

“I jumped at the opportunity to get in on the ground floor of these new traditions,” Rowdy said. “It’s a great time to be a Wildcat.”

Rowdy has access to hands-on experience and the opportunity to help others find community and belonging thanks to generous gifts from donors like you.

“Scholarships make a huge difference for a lot of people, myself included,” he said. “ACU graduates are world changers: we make a huge impact on the world around us. Your support makes that possible.”
