Dr.-Tony-RoachDr. Tony Roach (’92 D.Min.), longtime evangelist of Abilene’s Minda Church of Christ, is auditioning for Oprah Winfrey’s “Your OWN Show: Oprah’s Search for the Next TV Star” competition that winds down this weekend. The winner will host his or her talk show on Winfrey’s new network sometime in 2011.

Roach was profiled by the Abilene Reporter-News in this June 18 article that chronicles his struggle to overcome illiteracy and destructive personal behavior as a 10th-grade dropout, and eventually earn a Doctor of Ministry from ACU. He has authored several books, including God’s Love Bank, and been a keynote lecturer at his alma mater’s annual Summit (previously known as Bible Lectureship).

You can watch and vote for his short audition video, “A New Approach with Dr. Roach,” here.
